Today is our last session for this project. The final piece has been fused and looks fantastic. It is bright, colourful and eye-catching. I think it will make a huge impact once it is hanging in the concourse. It is a culmination of ideas from different pupils who have worked collaboratively over the last 10 weeks.

The final piece was all right because it was what we intended to make and it came together really nice. But the colour we chose did not come up it sometimes changed colour and was not were we put it. The final piece was good because the teachers said so and they go it will look really nice when its hanging when the light is shining through it. I don’t no what its gonna look like when its hanging but i think the sun with the word faith inside will look the best because i made it.

The final piece is good but I didn’t like it after it had been fused it looked completely different and the colour I expected was a bit dull I expected something more brighter and more colourful but in the end it looked good that’s all I can say really. But the staff said it was wonderful and said we worked really hard for the project and that we deserve a treat after all it was reallly tough working with frits and especialy stringers which i cut me self with and it was a deep cut and it really bad. But overall it was brilliant.

Today I came in to see school to visit the group and see how their project was going. When I came in Susan was presenting their final piece to the group which the group put together over a four hour period last week. (Only four hours!). This piece incorporates all of the ideas and techniques the group has been working with over the past ten weeks. I haven’t been in for a few weeks and I was really impressed with how the group piece has developed. I like the idea the group chose of basing their designs around a sun and its sunbeams and the way it includes various symbols of faiths. I can’t wait to see it when it is up in the school entrance. I know there are lots of ideas from the group about how to develop the glass work in school and how to develop their displays, perhaps in the windows of lower school. Very well done everyone!

This week we invited some of the teachers to come and help us decide to choose our final design. There were 4 groups and they had to choose 1 out of the 4. They said that we worked really hard and that they were proud of us to have such independent students just like us. All of the teachers liked our designs and were really impressed. They couldn’t decide at first and needed more time and they said that they will let is know, we were nervous. It was really good when they came over we couldn’t choose our selves.

We continued developing our ideas by placing our sketches onto our photographs using photoshop.
This helps us to visualise the pieces in place.

We also started measuring up the space and deciding what glass making techniques we would use in our final piece.

So today we finally began to look toward our final idea.
We started with small group discussions based upon what we have explored over the last 5 weeks and then fed back these ideas to the group as a mindmap.

We then used the interactive whiteboard to do some very rough intial concepts on our photos from last week to give us an idea of scale, shape and setting.

The final stage was to do some more detailed sketches of our ideas and experiment with different ways of imagining them in place.

Today we went down to the school lobby, which is probably where our final piece is going to be situated.
We took lots of photos of different potential places that the glass art could go and talked about what it might look like.

“:D The Past Couple Of Weeks When Having Been Taught About Glass It Is Quite Inspiring And Also You Learn Something Different Each Time. What We Are Trying And Hopefully Are Going To Accomplish Is Display Some Of Our Teams Glasswork Near Our School Reception…
